This. As much as Toronto would love to sign Clarkson, I can't see Nonis doing this. Nonis has really taken a cautious approach to building a winner and with the sting of the Grabo contract setting in, I just can't see Nonis taking on this kind of contract. Would love to have Clarkson but not at 6. Remember though, that's his asking price. With the decreased cap this year I doubt any team would be willing to meet it. I could see him getting 4-5 years at 5 million though which is still an overpay.

Toronto didn't offer Vinny more than 3 years... why would they offer Clarkson that much. Nevermind they have Bozak asking for 7 years at 4.8Mil and they are laughing!!

He's gonna be the new worst contract in the league. The dude is a 3rd liner who had a good year once. I like him and his playing style. But man is he getting greedy. Or he just turned it down so he can go home and play on a reasonable deal. Any GM who gives him the money he is said to seeking should be banned from the game. He isnt worth anything more than 4-4.5 mil a year. This is crazy.

I think the Flyers could afford another big contract. They aren't under cap pressure at the moment.

I know I am not really for getting smaller but I think if nothing works out for us in free agency that Gerbe would be a good player to pick up he has just been told he is being bought out. He would add that speed we have been looking for but is coming off surgery he would be a low risk high reward which Lou loves. I would be ok trying him on a 1-2 year deal.

Funny how everyone keeps saying this but if it was the case then he would of just accepted the devils offer sure he wouldn't mind going home but it wouldn't surprise me the least bit if he leaves and never has a good season again. He didn't do anything till Deboer got here and he was is coach in jr. Someone is going to give him relatively close to what he is asking

Can't really blame Clarkson for chasing the money. He will never get this opportunity again; makes sense for him to sign with whoever is going to be foolish enough to overpay him.

I used to say Clarkson was a devil through and through...after hearing what he is valuing himself as with ONE good, not great season he can take a walk...there is NO WAY he is worth 666k less cap hit than Ilya freaking Kovalchuk...I understand kovys contract is weird as hell but Clarkson is a 3rd liner who went on a hot streak...nothing more. Him expecting to be among the list of players that Todd listed is absolutely insane. 4.5mm/4 years is the contract he deserves...any other team that pays more is stupid.
